Mary Robinson said Sheikha Latifa, who has not been seen publicly since March, regretted making a video in which she claimed she was confined and tortured by her family.

Sheikha Latifa was fleeing her father and trying to migrate to the United States via India when Indian forces allegedly captured and returned her to her home country.

Amnesty International in a statement said the incident possibly entailed multiple violations of international human rights law by both India and the UAE, including arbitrary detention, torture and enforced disappearance.

Sheikha Latifa, 33, had escaped from Dubai, where she had allegedly been tortured and imprisoned for supporting a sibling who had also run away.
